“Act The Way You Want To Be And Soon You’ll Be The Way You Act.” – Bob Dylan

Tuesday, August 10th, 2010

That’s what I do all the time, but it doesn’t really work. Or maybe it does. Yes, I think it does. I think it has worked in the past. But you can’t keep it up for long… because if you do – keep acting as this character you’ve made up as if life were a novel – you’ll eventually go crazy and lose yourself. They say you should be who you are, but what does that even mean? If I was myself, I don’t think I would ever do anything. I would just lie on my bedroom floor, not eating or sleeping or talking, until I rotted away into nothing.

Morning shoot

Sunday, June 27th, 2010

So I did my time as a boom operator today. First “proper film experience” I guess haha! There was quite a few problems with it being windy, cars driving past, people talking, birds, etcetc, but it went really well. I was expecting a much bigger crew but it was only the director / cameraman, Wayne Dudley and the actor Dayle Teegarden. At least I hope I got the names right! Here’s a quick vlog for today:

We were lucky to have such great weather for most of the shoot too! My brother and I actually used this opportunity to make our own film: one I’ve been wanting to do for about half a year now, but the weather was never right. However, we changed the cliche ending, adding a bit of a metaphor and made it more dramatic. Since he is SO stubborn and needs to do the post-production by himself, I have no update on it as of yet. Hell, who knows if he’s even bothering to do it just now ¬_¬ Probably drinking Dr Pepper and gaming. Yay!

Well, I convinced him to walk Mock The Week, cause this “new” guy, Nik Rabinowitz is so funny hahaha! Check him out on YouTube. He told some really funny jokes involving the World Cup and South Africa. He speaks Xhosi, so he uses that to his advantage and is absolutely hilarious!

Anyway, just saw England lose to Germany. Haha, suckers! They get so stuck up about it (COM ON ENGLUNDD!), that it’s funny to see them lose. =D

And trying to enjoy my last “relaxing” day before work experience at the theatre and then my scene on Saturday. No sleeping in for six days! AMG! =( Haha.

Using Film

I finally used my film camera after all of these months. The shots aren’t great, but a few came out that I really liked!

CVs and Podcasts

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

So I went into town today with a couple of friends to hand out CVs. I meant to do so starting Christmas holidays but figured I should wait till I did my mock exams and got my predicted grades. So I handed out about 12 today and three places told me I’d be likely to get a position if I were to be here over the Summer holidays. It’s a while to go, but it’s a good offer.

I’m also thinking of starting a podcast, that is somewhat a blog but will revolve more around music (techno, trance, club, occasional rock). But because of licensing I will start out with more unsigned bands/artists and then try asking to use more well-known songs. They’ll probably be more likely to give me permission to use them once they see I have an audience of some sort. So I will be advertising here like crazy when I get started and hope you will all tell your friends =D haha.

I hate posting blog entries with no pictures or videos because it looks so plain, so here’s a song I like! It was between this video or one of gay men, so I figured this one would get less homophobic shit.

Exam Results

are so annoying sometimes. I won’t go into huge detail but I will bring up one thing! There’s two English papers in the two different exams. I got an averaged A in English Literature which was awesome! Then the English Language I got an A* in one paper! I was raving! I’ve never gotten an A* ever and I really want a good English grade because of art/film/screenwriting aspirations. But the second paper… I’d apparently left out a question, which I either mis-read on what/how many you were supposed to do or wasn’t told to ignore the unstructions and it ended up being a D, even though I got a 28/30 and 23/30 on the questions I did do! One of the English teachers told me my answers were brilliant but because I’d forgotten one… I think this is where I use my brother’s annoying “facepalm” word. At least it only averaged up to a B, but man! I HAD AN A FUCKING *!

It’s only the mocks… but I wanted to use them as predicted grades for part-time jobs and applying to schools. So would it be wrong of me to put A* instead of the B on my CV? Since I know I can get it and would have if I’d done the question!
